2000 dodge truck problems

I had to put a new master cylinder and vacuum booster on my 4x4 ex. cab Dodge. The brakes work good but the pedal does not come up to the original position as before. The brakes release o.k. but I have to lift the pedal with my foot to turn off the brake lights. The parts are new from an auto parts store not rebuilds. Does anybody have any help for me on this problem. Thanks

If it is new, the vacuum should put the brake pedal back to its original position (push out the rod) unless you have a return spring attached to the pedal that is bad....if a spring is used.

There is no spring used on this trucks brake pedal. Does the spring in the master cylinder help with the pedal returning?? I thought the vacuum booster helped only with the brakes being applied. Thanks for the help!!
