Speedometer doesn't work!

I have a 2000 dakota with a 4 cylinder, and last week on a long trip, my speedometer stopped working and my brake indicator light came on as well as the check engine light. Does anyone know what this could be?

Sounds like the Speed sensor which on the dodges doubles as the abs sensor. It is located on the rear axle on the differential housing.

Trust me when it comes to anything that deals with brakes you don't want to cheap out. Shouldnt be too expensive from dealer or parts house.

I replaced my ABS sensor on the rear ax about 3 years ago. It's not hard at all. My speedometer would not work until I got up to 40 mph and the brake abs light was on. It cured the problem.

You can only buy the part through Dodge for about $50. There is no after market parts for it.

Fairly easy to replace. I replaced one on my 99' 3500. Bought it at the local dealer...he told me how to replace it....
Good luck.
