Wink Need help with Intro Basics of Durango Engine

I have an '02 Durango and I'm loving it. I would like some advice on where I could go to educate myself for free on the components of my engine. I want to be able to go anywhere for repairs and not be taken advantage of or if I could learn to do it myself, that would be even better. I like the dirty!!! Also, if there are any Dodge or truck clubs I could join, let me know. My boyfriend doesn't enjoy my hobby the way I do and it's annoying. I need human contact that understands my trucky ways.
Thanks.

there is a website out there called "how stuff works". lots of interesting things there like how cams work and oiling systems. see what you can find there. if there is anything in particular, ask the forum.

What kind of guy can't appreciate someone that enjoys trucks? Ditch the boyfriend, and keep the Durango. You can be tought how to fix the ride, but some boyfriends can never be fixed!
Do you like football, and car racing too! I might be falling in love. LOL!
Try reading a simple repair manual for your truck. Most are pretty comprehensive, and will deal with your specific truck.
The best way to learn, is to do it. Buy an old ride, and fix it up. Tear it down, and make a project out of it. It really does not matter what it is. It does not have to be a 57' chevy convertable, it can be anything. Nothing better than taking an old clunker (any old clunker), and spending hour after hour making it the way you want it, and turning the key for the first time. When it starts, and you put it in gear, roll down the driveway, burn a little rubber. Man you can't buy that kind of satisfaction
Those reading this understand, (they know) and I hope you soon will too.
Always good to hear about others that have a passion for cars, the way most of us do. Try not to loose it, it is a good thing.
Gotta go now, the Winternationals started yesterday, and I got tickets for the whole weekend. If you can make it to Pomana, CA. by sunday for finals, I have an extra ticket.

Thanks for the advice. And thats actually one of my dreams or goals is to get like a really old truck and just tear the **** out of it and put it back to together, with some guidance of course. I would love to have a project truck. I would never cook or clean again!!! And just so you know, truck before man, my rule. Selfish, yes, but a must. I like playing football but my 12 year old boy plays and watches. I dont find any excitement in watching really large, masculane men running around in pansy tights trying to catch a pigs ball. I would rather see him in my garage with no shirt on covered in grease. Then I get to hose his down in the driveway like the dog he is. Okay, thats enough. I like car racing but not NASCAR. Makes me dizzy and tired. Anywho, thanks for the advice. I didnt think I would get any help on here. Wish I could be there to enjoy the races but Im a little far and unfortunately I have to work for a living. Thanks for the offer and we'll talk with ya later.

no problem. i dont know about the part about the hose him like the dog he is though. usually if a woman was to wash me it would not be washing me like a dog but more like a ........... i had better leave that one alone.
if ya read a little bit every so often, youll end up learning alot. not saying that you will be a pro at it but you will be able to hold your own and fix everything that you need to on older model trucks. i figure that if someone can fix their own, they are doin great.
