1992 Dodge Ramcharger100 5.2 L is running rough and dies

I need help I have changed the spark plugs which were heavy with soot. I also changed the fuel fliter, distributer cap and rotor. The catalatic convert. has been reamed out. What can be wrong.

have you had the injectors checked? do yo let it idle a lot or run at low rpm's? I would try running some injector cleaner through it and run it.

Did problem happen gradually or overnight? I ask 'cause I had same symptoms on my '96 5.2 and it happened over a weekend. Problem was bad sensor telling computer engine was running to lean so comp kept "richening" up fuel mixture till it wouldn't idle or run smooth and plugs were thick with soot. Don't know if 92 has same setup, but the sensor was on driver side.

What sensor was it that caused you your problems. I have the same problem with my 95 dodge van. Thanks in advance.

O2 sensors. If they do not reach temp, or are bad, they will only produce very little voltage an run full rich. It may never go into "closed loop" and stay full rich. Gonna need a decent multi meter to check. Should get a check engine light, but have seen some never trip a single light. Also have seen the bulb in the dash burnt out, so you may never see a light.

I had a 78' with a 1991 318' FI. It may be a vacuum leak at the throttle body, intake manifold or vacuum hoses.
