Hello I just purchased 01 Dodge 1500 ,5.2 engine Auto tranny . This must be a work truck style ,no frills. Went on some dirt roads that were frozen and fell through some ice mud underneath. to make a long story short the front differental was not engaging. Front drive shaft turning but not the wheels. Found the acuator on front diff With wires and vacuum hoses. how do I check it?

do you mean the front cv axles are turning... cuz if you do then its something wrong with your hubs, are they manual hubs, (mabey you forgot to turn em) or they could just be worn.

More than likely, you have a vacuum leak. If you have cruise control, look under the battery for the cruise module. Check that vacuum line first.
