New Ram 3500 ?

Ok guys here it is, I am the proud owner of a new 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 MegaCab, not a dually! What would be the first thing you would do to increase MPG, horsepower and torque? This is the first diesel truck I have ever owned, Already has a 4" exhaust on it and also replaced the factory air cleaner with a K&N. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Andrew

Not very studied in Dodges but you can chip/program it. If you are going to you need to install some gauges though. EGT and Tranny Temp are to 2 most important especially if you are going to be towing alot.

I can help you with that problem. You do need gauges I would also suggest a boost gauge. there are many options for you when it comes to chips. you need to figure out what you really want from the truck. I would run a synthetic oil where ever oil is used. if you would like some info on synthetic oil P.M. me I can get you a good price on amsoil. as far as a chip for your truck or questions about how to improve your MPG or more power contact Jason at dieselnut motorsports or you can check out www.dieselnut.com . hope this helps you.

a friend of mine has the bullydog setup on her rig and that son of a gun screams. pretty decent mileage too. increasing mileage, hp and torque are not commonly associated together. either you go out and play, or you stay home.

with diesels it is very well possible to make more power and still increase fuel mileage. unless you have a constant lead foot.

My 7.3 powerstroke gets better mileage with my mods but like tucker said you gotta keep your foot out of it.

if you want a perfect example of that, ask Jason at www.dieselnut.com he has a 2006 dodge with the cummins 100 horse injectors tst powermaxCR twin turbos and stacks. he can pull a 12.5 1/4 mile and still gets about 17 mpg.

i still have yet to figure out why people run diesels on a quarter strip. to me, they were never meant for it. more power to yall but i have NEVER heard of anyone that can run a track all day or keeping their foot in it all the time and get great gas mileage.

thats is the reason that we do it the diesels can be both fast and economical. I drive my truck at the flow of traffic on the highway and in town I have the power that I need to move the my heavy *** out of the way and when I feel like racing I just go to the track and do a pretty good job of competing. it is nice to catch people off guard when they see my flatbed roll up to the line and keep up with a lot of the other cars out there and still be able to use my truck on a daily basis for what ever I need it for!!
