| Carb question Hi all, I'm wanting to replace my TB with a Holey or Edlebrock carb. Can I use this intake, what about the wires to the TPS, will this affect the brain box in some way? Thanks in advance

| Welcome to the site.... I would think that if you are reverting from fuel injected to carburated that you will run into some problems. More than likely you can't use the intake, especially if you are looking for more fuel and air mix and for performance. also, not having the injector sensors connected, like the TPS or MAP, will affect your cmp. Carbs don't generally use these parts. But I am curious, why? What are you looking to accomplish? Is there a problem with the throttle body? Maybe answers to these questions could shed some light on what to look for, and give some of the experts here some more info to work with....lol.

| i agree, why would you want to do away with the TBI?? you can get higher CFM units just like carbs. the tbi will give you many times better fuel atomization than that carb will ever give you. dont worry about it affeting your computer. you will always have a service engine soon light if you revert to a carb. your MAF and o2 sensors will be useless and you wont have a need for a TPS. if this is going on your d150, you should not have a problem with the tranny as they still used a tv cable instead of wires. i would hold on to the TBI though. |

| The carb swap was a suggestion as a uick fix instead of lots of trial & error & $$ on various sensors. The truck stalls @ idle, runs rough, OK, rough, OK. Did the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, TPS, all with little to no change |

| does you truck bring up any codes at all?? there are really not that many sensors left on that old of model. a carb swap might be an excellent suggestion but for the cost of a new carb, you can buy nearly all the sensors for that truck plus an oil change. |

| if you were to convert to a carb. you would not be able to smog your vehicle any more one because of the check engine light and to because the sensors work together to with ecm and the tb to keep it smogable.
