Headers and Exhaust Systems

Hello everyone. This is my first post, so cut me some slack. I am the proud new owner of a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.9L engine. I'd like to add some headers and a new exhaust system, but there are so many to choose from. What might you guys suggest, especially with respect to my specific truck. Thanks.

dave

Welcome to the site.
Everyone is pretty helpfull around here, so you need not worry about being new, unless you post once, and never come back, then we are out for blood! Just jokin, hey with regards to your trucks headers you can find many, many options. The ECM will only allow so much additional horsepower, so don't set unreasonable expectations. While you are shopping, consider how thick the flanges are. Less expensive headers may have thinner flanges that will lead to leaks down thw road. Changing gaskets is a pain, and will require new gaskets after thin flanges warp. It will be a never ending battle, and eventually you will either throw away the cheap headers and go back to manifolds, or be forced to buy a higher quality header, like you should have done in the first place.
This is one of those get what you pay for scenarios.

Good luck with the truck, see you on the boards.....
