05 1500 ok, here goes. I have a 05 1500 2wd hemi, i have ordered a grille gaurd, step bars, and a tool box, i am going to put a 6" procomp lift on it.(i know, lifting a 2wd, but i dont care, i mud, but i never get in the deep stuff, i like my truck to much.) neways, the lift is a few weeks out and my dad said he will buy me tires, i have the 20" wheels, so my question is, what is the largest, widest, most agressive tire i can put on my truck right now without the lift that wont look tiny after the lift? please keep 2wd lifting coments to yourself, thank you for your help.

Welcome to the site; have nothing against lifted 2wd trucks, they make cool looking trucks, and if guys can lower them, they should be able to lift them, even if they do not have a front driveshaft. I can actually answer this question with one word,,,,patience! have some patience, and wait a little until you install the lift so you can select the right tire. Does not make any sense to take a short cut this late in the game. 6 inches is a big lift, and you will end up getting a tire that is too small if you jump the gun now. I can assure you that you will be disapointed after the lift is installed, and you will have to run around with something that looks like doughnuts for many miles because you didn't wait a couple of weeks for the lift to be installed. A little patience now, will pay off in the end......

i agree. whats the sense in spending the money on tires to have them look stupidly small after you put in your lift.

you make a great point, i will wait, i want to have a bad *** loking truck, not a stupid one, but than the question, after a 6 inch lift, what tire could i fit then? i am thinking of the super swammper irok, 36x13.5x20LT, would this be a tire that fits, should i go smaller, can i go bigger, HELP, i own a custom auto shop named L.T.M. Automotive Designs, i have specialized in restorations, tuners, muscle, and dropped and bagged trucks, i need to lift my truck for advertisment to break into the mud truck buisness, so i am new to the offroad, so any help is appreciated. thank you.

Well, the best thing to do, would be to lift the truck, and fit tires after everything has settled. The thing will be real close to rubbing the fenders with 36's, but might just make it, worse case is you may have to throw a set of offset spindle in it to get the added heigth, but it would be better to wait till you get the thing in the air, so you dont make any mistakes, plus you wil get to see how it looks right there at the tire shop. Just so you know, I have never seen an IROK (even a radial) last for too long. A couple of other options would be the NITTO mud grappler, or the Mickey Thompson mud claw. All of these work fairly well. The longest lasting tire has got to be the Swamper SSR. You would have to step all the way up to a 38 incher if you stay with the 20's. None of the tires with a 20 inch wheel are going to work very well off-road. Not enough sidewall flex to make them very functional, so keep you expectations reasonable. Of course the biggest limiting factor would be the lack of front differential, so just cuz you got some nasty mud tires is not going to turn your truck into a mud monster. Don't forget to change your gears with rubber this big, or this thig will be a real pig. Good luck, have fun, hope it comes out well.

so, 2 inches will make a difference? i dont want to make it a "mud monster" just be able to get threw some puddles and sand, in all honesty, out behind my house is a flood zone, a friend of mine in a 4x4 s10, with a little more beefy tire got stuck in a 6 inch puddle, i drove around him on the deep side(about 12") got hung up a bit, gave'er ****, and pulled right out, with stock everything, so, i did better than him, with the lift and big tires, will i see anymore advantage than what i can already do? thats why i figured id get the most agressive tread pattern i could find and it would give me a little more edge, i love the dodge 20"s and i would rather not get rid of them. the truck doesent get driven far, so tread where isnt a problem, and i have a newborn daughter, so more vibration is GREAT!!!!anybody know where to find bigger than a 6" lift for a 2wd? am i waisting time lifting, or should i do what i always do, slam it, supercharge it, and BLING IT!!!???!!
