Thumbs up Over size wheels.

My buddys ex-wife put size 24'' wheels on her Lincoln SUV and what happen in time is that the tires rubbed the anti-lock brake wires running on the frame in turn the ECU shorted out costing her $1600.00 dollars good lesson to learn here always' see if tires will rub when changing tires and wheels size. Just wanted to share this with all members or one for the books.
Have a Great Weekend! GMCTRUCKS

PS-What was happening is that the truck wouldn't turn on and the Ford dealership has seen this happen before.

You also have to be careful about oversized wheels and factory brakes. That much more mass over stock is hard to slow down! Just some more info.

I will add a little to that.
Bearings also take a severe beating when using the "big bling".
I have 24's on a chrys. 300, and the little car bearings do not like them at all! Have already changed a set up front.
Do have big Brembo brakes and rotors all the way around, but nobody offers a larger spindle and bearing kit.
Hey! Wheels turning............

it says that big rims are not good with out mods to the truck, first post! big rims suck with small trucks, in this case suv's. 1600 bucks down the tubes becuz of those dumb things.

well with all due respect my bro's 22's have yet to give him any problems in the past 2 years he's had um, and you cant tell me that big tires and a monster lift isnt gonna mess anything, cause i know for fact it does hella lot more damage, i mean im not dissin lifting and big tires cause i like the look alot, but when it comes down to it, it destroys more then a set of rims does. i ahve 4 jacked up trucks within 5 houses of me and they have their tires offalot more often to just fix what went wrong

but if the lift kit is installed correctly or professionally, there will be minimal problems becuz the guys know wat they are doing. if an amature just buys a lift kit out of a jc whitney cataloge, and installs it him/herself, there is bound to be more problems. also, you have to realign the truck with larger tires, and thats one thing most people with big lifts dont understand.

not neccessarily, my bud next door has a 2003 chevy 2500 quad cab, he's got around 15k stuck in it, and he's yet to do a job himself so he had his 6 inch lift done professionally and again he has nuthin but problems. it cause stress on others parts shortening their lifespan..

any mods to any truck can shorten life span, specially suspension mods. lifts and drops cause the same problems, and if you got hydro's for get it.
