Cool Little vid of me at the Track

This last weekend me and a few other powerstroke guys went to OK for the buick ford shootout.

YouTube - John Wayne Run 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel

Ain't the greatest video or times but I still have my injectors to put in with some better tuning.

My best time all day was 17.13 which I guess ain't all that bad seeing as the truck weighed 8600 pounds (scale at track) and I have a handshaker (6 speed manual) to boot....

n-e-hoo, Enjoy!

Pretty good pass. how many rins did you make?
Even more curious about the 60 foot times. How hard were you able to get her out of the hole?
With a manual where did you launch from? Kinda tough to get boost up with the clutch in and keep from rolling through the staging lanes.
Curious to your method.

only got to make 3 runs all day....

I don't have the time slip with me but I think my best 60' was 2.8.. I know it is terrible!
as for my launch I launch in 4x4 2nd gear at about 2500-2800 rpms and kinda slip the clutch to build boost.

If I could of made more passes I think I could work out a way to hold the brake and gas with one foot and slip the clutch to build boost before rolling.. It was a busy day at the track though.

Interesting that you use 4x4. Did you try to just use 2wd? The reason I ask is because you will generate faster rpm;s by not having the load of the transfer case and the front axle to turn. Even though the weight is the same, it just becomes static weight and is only there for the ride.
I really doubt you will blow the tires off of the thing, even at full boost. Even when I was running in the 13's, I had 60' times right around the 2.0 mark and did it in 2wd. The trucks do not transfer weight, because they are so long, but do not really have much of a problem with spinning the tires to the point that 4wd seems reall necessary. Try it and I bet you can pick up a 1/10th or two. Even if you spin the tires a little, it will only increase rpm's and your MPH will increase.
Tough to get those big things rolling.
I got smoked by a Duramax diesel (dually) once, and I was well into the twelves. Man that thing was fast!
Could have blasted another stage of nitrous, but I knew that I had been beat. Nother place, nother time might be a different story, but for now, I stay away from that darn Duramax!

Oh yeah, your truck does sound good. I could hear you smakin away at the shifter.
I am sure there is another 1/10th or two there too.

actually I was running 2wd the first 2 passes (launching the same way) and it was a 4x4 launch that got me the 17.1 My second best was a 17.3 and that was a 2wd launch.

yeah duramax's and cummins are insanely fast for the price to upgrade..... these old 7.3 powerstrokes can put down some serious power but you need about 30k lying around. Good thing is i'm about 1/3 the way there.....
One of the highest hp diesels (streetable) is a d-max that was iirc 1100hp 1800tq and it could of been more but his injector cups were leaking....

youtube or google nastygirl and you can see the d-max.

Here is another. This is "double overtime" strictly for pulling. This is a 7.3 though that has been severly modified to the tune of over 100k in the motor. I think this motor is putting out 1800hp!
