06 Diesel no boost and no power?

A freind of mine just phoned from the highway outside of Winnipeg, just filled up at Flying J. Go down the road about 15 minutes and lost boost pressure and had a hard time making highway speed. Running no load or trailer. Can the turbo go out that fast, very low miles on truck.

i lost a turbo on my 05 6.0 but it took awhile it sounded like a blender for about a month then grenaded, does he have a positive air shut off? i`ve had lotsa problems with them, switching closed sometimes even partially closed, enough to idle but can go anywere, no boost lotsa black smoke.

The truck is all original. I am not familiar with Ford, if it is not factory he did not add the positive shut off.

pretty sure he blew a boost tube. Not very common but not that rare. did he hear a loud pop or whoosh sound.

I would have him check all the connections from the turbo thru the intercooler to the intake.

It turned out be all good except for fuel had jelled up. -32C plus the wind factor will do that sometimes.
