| 302 motor I am looking at a 74 Ford long bed. The guy says it needs a motor. Can I pull the motor out of my bronco and put it in the 74 with no big complications? And then can i use the same lift off of the bronco? its a 1985 Bronco |

| You should not have too many real big issues with your engine swap, except that the 74 probably has an FE engine and the 302 from the later model truck has a different bellhousing bolt pattern so the transmission will not work. YOu can use the transmission from the bronco as well though, and this should be alright. Any ford type t-case can be bolted up behind either 4wd transmission. INput shafts for fords, as well as the 6 bolt pattern will be the same. (few exceptions here but not in the case of the 74 to 85 trucks.) The lift kits are very different since the bronco has a Twin traction beam front suspension design and the 74 has a solid front axle. Both are dana 44's but with very different radius arms, and coil springs the TTb kit will not work under the early truck. Radius arm drop down brackets are different, and the solid axle truck has a trac bar that need to modified. Steering is also very different, and buying the right kit is a better alternative. |

| Ok. To change the topic a bit, but what is involved to change a lift kit. If i buy a stock 150 and want to put the lift kit of the same kind off the bronco, what do i have to take off and put on? Even though I have a lift kit and two of my family members have lift kits I really don't know what is added to the suspension that gives it the higher lift. |

| set the trucks side by side and do a visual inventory on the differences. Then I would go online and look up the actual kit, and see what it adds. Then compare to make sure it is all there. Every lift kit is different depending on the end result, so i would do it that way.
