camshaft position sensor
hello guys. i have designed a antithief system for my truck, it consist in a electronic device wich disable de motor to keep it from starting, my question is, can i use the camshaft position sensor as a secret cutoff power, can i plug up a relay betwen it and the pcm to turn it off and on controlled by the antithief device, the reason for i don't want to cut the power from fuel pump or other hot wires is because most of the car stealers know how to bridge these wires, and this idea may be better, but i don't know if interrupting signals from cam sensor will cause any damage to the computer or other part of the system, can anybody help me to fix this, or can i use an other sensor to prevent motor starting? thanks.

I'd be inclined not to tamper with the cam pos sensor,
there's probably a good reason why they would want to wrap those wires in a shield. Sensitive stuff, and you wouldn't want your mod failing you at an inconvenient time. Consider over-riding the control for the PCM power relay, lots of ways to choose from, no sensitive signal wires, easier connections for mod. Another thought (gloomy): if you're parking where they have time to hunt down and rewire usual anti-thefts, they may choose to strip and destroy instead! Good luck. |
