| 92 Ford Ranger 4X4, but it doesn't work? Hey guys. Looking for some help here. Last winter, I had all sorts of problems with my four wheel drive system. First, my modulator went out, so I had that replaced ($175). Then, my harness melted, and it would not go into low ranger ($150) Then, the AWESOME (/sarcasm) push button four wheel drive transfer case switch decided to stop working all together ($90 the first time it was fixed, $65 the next). Now, after the switch being repaired, the truck won't even go into four wheel drive. My dad (he's my mechanic most of the time) says that the switch was probably installed incorrectly, however, I was reading that these Rangers have a weird transfer case that likes to go out if it's dirty. My problem is, I have no idea where the transfer case is. I have crawled around under the truck a few times, but I still can't find it. I highly doubt it is the switch, because when you press the button for four wheel drive, you can hear the modulator making the normal clicking noise telling the t-case to go into four wheel drive. Then, you look at the fancy black box behind the jump seat, and the little red light goes out, and you have to hit the reset button. My truck does have manual hubs, and they are engaged when I try the four wheel drive. Any help will be appreciated as I am involved in a four wheeling trip here in the next couple of weeks, and really want to get the truck fixed.
