Is this normal for the truck? F350

I was checking the tran fluid and heard a clicking noise. I watched it a bit and there was a part (sorry I don't know the names) that kept stopping and starting. It was on the part that has the belt on it. I did have my Max A/C running, so I turned it off and the part that would start and stop didn't turn anymore. So I linked it to the A/C anyway. Is that stopping and starting thing normal?

I took pics, but I dont' know how to get them on here

I tried but it said my filetype exceeds the forum limit.

the stopping and starting is the A/C compressor clutch. It should cycle, but if it is cycling rapidly you might be low on freon. How often was it stopping and starting?

no that is good enough. If it is doing it that rapidly you are probably low on freon. I would take it to a shop and have them check the freon and charge it if necessary.

And is there a way I can check the freon at home?

You will need to have the ac system charged (re-filled) Over time freon will leak out and once it gets too low it will cause the compressor to cycle rapidly. You can check it at home if you have the proper tools (manifold and gauges). Unless you have experience with it I would suggest taking it somewhere. While not extremely high the working pressure for the high side of the a/c system is around 220 psi. I would take it to a shop and while there ask whoever if you can watch what they are doing and ask questions so you can see what is involved with the AC system.

Will it be okay for this weekend? It is hooked to the horse trailer. It will be driven/pulling a total of 4 hours. I won't be back till sunday night.

it will be fine. 98 percent of the time when the motor is higher in rpms (cruising speed) the pressure in the ac system is high enough that the clutch will stay engaged like it is supposed to. it is the lower pressures while idling that cause the cycling.
