Starting problems with my 1999 Ford F250 Power stroke diesel I am not getting much juice to my starter! In the morning first time I try the starter barely turns over! Second try a little better but still doesn't fire up engine! Third try starter turns over fires up engine! This happens ever time the engine doesn't run for a couple hours! I changed new two batteries I changed compete battery cable harness! I just changed to a new Glow Plug relay and still have this problem! I thank you!

Welcome to the site. You have a 7.3 in there right? How fresh is the starter, and how old is it? Brushes or a bad comm in the starter itself is perhaps the problem. After it is warm, or even after it starts, does it start fine? After you replaced the cables, are you sure that the connections were good? Often times the post in the starter can come loose, and cause this issue also. Sounds like a loose connection still.

That is a possibility, but something (just a wild guess here though) still leads me to the stater itself. While the solenoid could be a problem, it is either going to work, or not work, and will not typically cause the slow crank. I am assumimng that the engine cranks slowly correct? Or does it crank alright, it just does not fire? If the engine cranks, and spins at a decent rpm, and simply willnot start, then the problem you should look at is the cam sensor (CPS). These are common failure items, and a spare should be carried in the glove box. I am leaning towards the starter, but if I am not nderstanding the symptoms correctly, and the starter is actually functional, and correct, then you may need to look at something else like the CPS.

Thanks For your time! It situation is like there is not enough juice going to the starter! I did bring the truck to Checkers and he tested my system and said the starter was ok he though it was the cables but after that I did change them it was exspensive plus it wasn't easy job for me to do it! Then I when to a Napa Parts store and he said he had other customers with this problem and said he thinks it was the Glow Plug Relay so I bought that and changed it but still same problem??? Just like not enough juice going to starter ! The first time I let the glows heat up and the starter barely turns the second time I try to start I let it glow and I little more juice turns the starter but not strong enough to fire up engine ! Then third time I once again let it glow and it get enough juice to fire up the starter turns good and engine starts!

Thats still a tough one. I would hate to suggest the starter solenoid, but everything should be checked. You can bypass this, ,and just turn the key on, and with a jumper cable, touch one large lug of the solenoid to the other. The truck would start. If the solenoid is bad, the truck will crank right over without the anoying drag. If it continues to do this, you can isolate the solenoid and move on to other things. Try one thing at a time so when you do find it, you know exactly what you did. While i can appreciate the effort you put into the installation of the new cables, you may want to verify that all of the connections are good and tight. You really want to verify that the grounds are tight and clean. Loose grounds can be very mis-leading and cause all sorts of troubles.
