F250 4x4 trouble

i have an 02 f-250 4x4 super crew 7.3d. i'm having 4x4 trouble. i turn the switch on the dash to 4 high and nuthn happens. no light comes on in the instrument cluster, no light comes on at the switch. this is after i have gotten out and turned the hubs from auto to manual. i know its not locking in because ive turned the wheels hard one way or another and i cant feel it. ive checked the only fuse i can find in the book that says anything about 4x4{#19}and it is good. sure could use some help here with winter headed my way pretty soon. thank you.

I think i`ve commonly seen broken wires right at the pigtail and crossmember for the t-case motor, plus vacuum motor probs, but seing as the light won`t come on, maybe pull the plug off the motor (below t-case)and check for power and ground....>stump

The light on the dash is the last thing to happen. In other words, it will not come on until the truck is actually in 4X4.... The most common failure is the shift motor. The easiest way to test is to plug in a known god part. The auto hubs will not keep the light from coming on however.
