New Motor???

Ive got a 1978 ford f250 custom that is in the process of being built to tow with, and Im hunting for a good engine to drop in. I have enough fab and mechanical skills that no engine is out of the question, and I was just wondering what All yall would recomend(without breaking the bank)

engine built for towing?? i would go with something that uses diesel. but that is just my opinion. if you plan on towing alot, the gas bill is going to eventually eat you alive.

my view of it has always been with long term plans. do it right the first time even if it means the extra dough. if this is something that you have no intention on keeping, slap something in there that will get you far enough down the road to trade in on something else.

Ive thought that too, but convincing the wife of that is something else. and this is a truck that will be rebuilt as many times as it needs and will never be sold as long as Im alive. sentimental value I suppose

Yank a 370 outta of an old dump truck around the year and slap a hot cam and a 4 barrel on there. Or get a diesel, a cat or cummins would be best IMO.
