doesn't run right

1987 ford ranger v6 2.9l, changed wires, plugs, cap, rotor, the electical device on back of distributor, the coil pack, somtimes starts right up goin down the road it might just shut off on you, might restart now or half hour from now. anyone got any ideas

changed the fuel filter??

my dad did the filter and fuel pump, he says a garage claims they put a relay for the fuel pump in, problem still is there. i believe they even changed the computer on the truck also.

Battery cables. Will it turn over when it dies? is the body ground attached?
