What gear ratio? and traction aid?

So, I recently tore down my "free" 3/4 ton ford axles.(front hp D44 rear ford 9inch) and the gears are hammered. So, I guess i will be upgrading anyway. So, My question to Ya'll is, What gear ratio, and what traction aid would you all suggest?

They are going to be swapped under my 1993 S10, that is running a hopped up 4.3 with a tbi Im debating transmission, as I have a 700r4 and it also has the 5 speed in it as of now. I had it on the dyno with 235/75/r15 tires which it came with, and came up with about 215 horse...... and about 250 ft.lbs. of torque(little monster eh?) now I am planning on running 33-35 inch tires, and using it in the mud a little, but mostly in the rock trails that we have around the town. price isn't an issue, as I have been saving for about 3 years to begin this project.

I have been thinking of 4:88 gears, and arb air lockers front and rear. but Im not sure if the 4:88 is low enough with only the 4.3 v6 any thoughts?

This is an interesting question and much of this will have to do with the actual size of the tire. There is a difference between the 33 and the 35" tire. Are you sure this is the tire size that you intend to keep?
YOu will also have to decide on which trans you intend to keep. I like trucks with a bunch of gear, and run some steep gears on many of my trucks, especially any that might be short on power.
I like the 4.88 gear ratio for this, and might even consider the 5.13 range if you chose the auto and 35" tires.
This is a pretty popular swap for the vehicles in this similar category.
You are content with ARB's? What is it about them that you like? Detroits are not an option?

detroit are an option. I haven't used any of them, But I do have some use with ARB... would you suggest detroits instead? and this past weekend I spent the day out with a buddy in the local 4x4 club, and 95% of them run 35's..... so I am thinking 35's, and building up the 700r4 and swap out the manual

For 35 inch tires, probably any of the lockers are gonna hold up fine, I just like the strength advantages of the detroit. I seldom see the need to run a selectable unit, and the auto lockers are fine for my application.
Just a preference thats all.
