What kind of MPG should you get with a 93 F150 4X4 W/5.0L

What should or expect to get for mpg with a 1993 F150 it has the 5.0L and is a auto and 4wd. a reg.cab with the short box with P265/75R15 cooper winter tires on it , its my sons and he is saying he is getting only 11mpg that seems low to me i had the same truck but with a long box and 235/75R15 tires and know i got anywheres from 14 to 16 mpg with it so what or why is his so low ? his 2007 Dodge is getting a little over 12mpg with the Hemi motor so what gives ? Thanks

Is he going through brakes faster too ?
Any chance it's endless idling while bs'ing with friends ?
Different routes, drive times, loads ? Air pressure in tires ?

I always get better mpg than others sharing the same rides
because I always let the ride decide what it wants to do.
Rides talk, people refuse to listen, oh well.

PS: dad's are naturally smarter

lets evaluate this and put ourselves in his place at young ages. i never did anything crazy within site of daddy. nor did tell him what i did. whenever the truck broke, i took it to a friends house and repaired it. he never could figure out why i got junky gas mileage as well.
i dont know if 265s were stock for that truck but if they arent and nothing was done about the speedo, than figureing mileage could be off touch a bit.

Nope not going through brakes or tires he just got the truck on the road a few weeks ago he's 20yrs old and has kind of learned about beating on his rigs and he can't afford to burn up his new tires. he drives this truck now back and forth to work about 9 to 10 miles one way he has had the hubs locked in and has driven this last week with them out since the weather has been nicer up here and hasn't seen any diffrents in the mileage .the 265's are the right size as thats what the sticker said on the inside of the door.

when you think about it 9 or 10 miles is barely enough time for the engine to get up to temp, I'll bet if he drove 25 miles straight he would see a big difference. did he just start driving it with the cold weather? My son sees a drop of 2-3 mpg with the winter driving, warm ups etc.
