| 300 to 302 swap. Same trans?? So my brother has a 1992 ford F150 and the motor is getting pretty weak. I offered him my 92 silverado for it to help him out. My silverado is in really good shape. Anyhow I am not a ford man. But will a 302 bolt up to the same transmission. I know these dont have a detachable bellhousing. The truck is in Texas and I am in Alabama so I cant just go have a look. Thanks in advance

| It puzzles me why ford has sooooo many bellhousing patterns, when one could have worked. Heak it sure does make it difficult to run a 4L80E behind a Ford engine. Difficult, but not impossible. Anyway, the 300 to 302 swap is as easy as it gets, and the bellhousing patterns are the same. The inline sixes share the same small block pattern as the 221,260,289,302 and 351W engines. Same family and same transmissions. Engines mount differently from the six to the eight, but since the trucks were available with both engines, this is a salvage yard fix. |

| Yeah I have been gone awhile. Time to get back to my roots. Thanks for the info. The trans was rebuilt about 6 months ago, Just dont like the hot water inline 6 cylinder motors. Thought a 302 with GM HEI and a carbeurator would be the way to go here. Will see if he can get here to swap soon.

| Houston, I am really not into Fords, But he is a college student living in an apartment barely making it. What can I say, I am my brothers keeper. If he cant get it here, i will drive my truck to him and rent a Uhaul and bring his truck back here for repairs.
