| 83 ford ranger i got a question bout a motor swap on a 83 ford ranger that has been given 2 me. it has a 2.8L v6 n a 4 spd manual tranny. i have a 302 (5.0 v8) that i want 2 drop in place of the underpowered 2.8. i know that it can b done but i'm wondering if the stock tranny will bolt up 2 the bigger motor? i know that if it does that i will have 2 baby it around 2 keep from shelling the rearend and possibly the tranny, but i'm on a extremely tight budget and the 2.8 needs 2 be completely overhauled and the 302 only needs a rear main. any help at all would be greatly appriciated. |

| the transmission bolts up to the bell housing and the input shaft goes into the clutch disk . i'am not a ford man , but i think they will with the proper bell housing . if the 302 was a automatic you will also need a pilot bearing . shd |

| the 302 has a standard bolted 2 it right now. it's n my dads wood haulin truck. but the tranny is a 2wd. i hope it works |

| howdy just wanted to add on the moter swap there were 2 seprrate trannys in the mid 80's ranger most of them were masda trannys.but your biggest problem will be your front end wiil suffer greatly the ball joints and tie rods if it still has factory parts are very light weight. |
