| '92 Ford Ranger Rocker Arms Hey, new to the forum and hoping you guys can help me. I've got a 1992 Ford Ranger with the 2.9 liter 6 cylinder. My dad and I have tried to adjust the rocker arms several times, each time resulting in missing and/or backfiring. I have the small metal tabs that tell you the spacing. Just don't know how to use them, or what to adjust the arms to. any help would be appreciated. Thanks -Brad |

| The lifters on your truck will be hydraulic so you should not need any gauge. With the piston at or near TDC on the compression stroke slacken the adjuster un til you can freely rotate the push rod. Now tighten the adjuster until you feel a very little drag while rotating the push rod, at this point tighten the adjuster a further 11/2 turns. Repeat for all the valves. This is an old method of setting hydraulic lifters but it should work for your engine. Good luck. |
