Theory on lift?

I'm looking to improve the ride of my truck. I looked under my truck and I can tell you right off the bat, the leaf springs are nearly flat and level in the front, and every time I go over a speed bump on the back it bounces and shakes like crazy. It has that stiff feeling. It has its old stock suspension and everything. I want to know what will smooth out the ride and give it a few extra inches for any off road incidents I should encounter.

Can I use suspension parts from other trucks, or will those not line up with my truck? I searched so many online stores for the part, but I thought that maybe I could interchange parts if I cant find them from a store.

You have to be careful lifting a truck if you are wanting to retain a good ride. Any springs that add lift are likely to be harsher riding simply because they are stiffer by design. Springs from other vehicles can be used. You'll need good measurements and a little mad scientist figuring to get it right...

Yip and spring width in some cases. If it's in the budget, I'd go with new springs and shocks.

My 57 F-100 was the same way I replaced the king pins once they were worn bad also check your leaf spring bushings they might just be on the bolts since the truck is old mine were and last change out the front end to a Mustang II front end also some shops can re-arch the springs. I replaced the rearend on my 57 with a rearend from a 1974 Grand Torino for better gas mileage some work was involved but it the same size I even went with a 5.0 and a FMX trans I put a lot of money in that truck.
Good luck! GMC

PS-I have been giving rep points because some of you members deserve them and I feel like spreading some love...............

They make long neoprene bump stops that might be a quick cheap fix, do a search or check out some 4x4 mags
