yea sry its the piece midway down on the inside of the door next to the front quarter panel and it keeps ur door from swinging around and or closing on u its bolted to the door and leads well in my case lead into the front quarter panel, if u kno the technical name for it plz let me kno so i dont have to sound like such an idiot haha, in my haynes repair manual though it says its called "door stop"

i think he means the little notched lever that holds the door open on a small incline. it also keeps the door from swinging too far and damaging the fender. i don know what you call it tho. its located between the upper and lower door hinges on chevrolets, i assume its the same for fords. i would think it would just unbolt and come out, but im not sure, never had to replace one.

What I was thinking. I always called it the door strap but I bet there is a more technical name for it.

i believe they sell this as a whole part but have been proven wrong before. trick is that the plate there that it bolts to is behind the sheetmetal. it moves around a bit and have heard of this plate falling down when the last bolt is taken out. this has also happened to me when replacing the hinges.

An easy way to prevent that is to just make a loop in the middle of a piece of stiff wire, tie a string to it and shove it into the hole when you take the first bolt out. (Sort like the thing on your tool pouch that holds a roll of tape.) If the plate falls down you can just pull it back up again with the string. When you're ready to put the last bolt in again just yank the string and either the wire will straighten and come out, or the string will snap and the wire drops inside and out of the way.
