ok, another question. how is a maf sensor going to tell the computer to fire only injector 8 instead of the whole bank? a maf sensor measures air density and speed and as far as i know you should already have an air charge sensor that does a similiar job. (i'm not a ford guy).

is the truck a dizzy engine and the donor car coil pack?

oh, and to answer part of your question. yes, you will need to redo your harness. your trucks injectors share a ground wire, whether it be a pair or a whole bank or all 8. if you want them to fire one at a time, you will have to run a separate ground to each injector from the computer. make sure you get the right crimping tool if you still plan to do this.

its not the MAF that tells the injectors to fire, its the mustang comp that takes care of the ignition. both cars have dizzy's.

i did a some searching and found this site. hopefully it helps answer some questions about the conversion and anyone else wanting to do the conversion.

custom air intake and MAF conversion for a 1988 Ford F150

i have owned both types before. to me, both worked just as good as the other. as for fuel mileage, do you think you are going to gain enough to justify the $1200 price tag if that is indeed what it costs?? i really dont see those big of gains in engine performance out of this conversion. used to smoke people with MPFI when i still had my 91 with relatively no mods. (dizzy, MAP, TBI.) dont take it that i am talking down about your idea, but it just seems to me that there is not enough gain per the price tag.

i dont plan on copying his setup exactally, im not going to use the lightning T/B. thus i wont need that spacer he had made for 350$, i have a spare intake set-up from a buddy so there is half the cost of the kit from the link. i mainly posted the link for anyone else wanting to do the conversion and get pointers. i am going to fab up an intake for my dual T/B on the truck that 'Y' into a single tube for the MAF. then all i really need to do is rewire the eec, new injectors, and a few other odds and ends; nowhere near the 1300 that guy spent.
