axel swap

I am looking at converting my 1985 f150 to a straight axel found a set of 1975 f250 highboy axels dana 44 front and a dana 60 rear was woundering about info on these axels ?

I would steer clear of the high boy stuff, I dont know how the high boys got there good name but there actually quite junk, low pinion, big hub, hard to find parts for. you need to find a like a 78 or 79 half ton ford. that way you can stay with coil spring and the conversion stays a lot simpler. you just move the radius arm mounts back a little and fab a track bar bracket, the rest is pretty much a bolt together swap. if ya need pics i can give them to. hope this helps.

thanks for the information looked at a 1978 front end will be a lot easier to convert over

The big hub D44 is very tough to find parts for. My question is whay do you want to convert to a straight axle? With a little work a TTB can be a **** fine front end.

do some mudding an the axle housing always pack full of mud so usally have tro pull axels out to clean mud out .
I have no complaints about it put a EZ lock in it and it showed up a couple trucks at last mud pit went to
