mac cold air intake

im looking to put a cold air intake on my 98 4.6L v8 f 1-50 i found one used on craigs list for a 99 4.6L and its a mac cold air intake with filter and maf sensor he wants it for 75.00? the truck has 16000 miles on it, is it worth the deal and if not i was told to look at K&N filters bt are there any other good companies to look for? thanks for the help yall

never heard of mac, if the kit is clean and truely flows in cold air (not just open to underhood air) it may be a good unit. but k&n are reputable, other companies to check out are volant, afe, and i`m sure there are a few others.

alright thanks guys and would u say a programmer would be better then upgrading my ecu chip? i looked at both and the chips are 28 bucks vs the 400 but i would prefer quality even if it would 380 more

i have a programmer and am happy with what it did. the best bang for the buck is the ECM tune though. it is considerably more than the chip and programmer but when you start adding up ponies and mileage, you are way ahead of the game per buck.

custom tune man! $28 bucks for a chip is scary as ****! jikes, i have seen "chips" on the side of the road before (true story), some are more damadging than good....
