| Absolutley, Bernie Right. That poor battery. No wonder its giving up. That about like a human having a heart attack from an overdoes of Cocaine !!! If you are lucky, replace the voltage regulator. On that old truck its porbably external and seperate from the alternator, and you still may even be on the old generator system, then add some water and an asprin to your battery and it may be OK. Electrolye would be even better. If not, then the battery is fried and needs replaced.

| 1964... IIRC those regulators were on the firewall and used a set of points which would often corrode or burn out. If I still had all my old pinball tools (used to repair 'em) I could put new blades and points in one, but those are long gone. I agree with Leo, go for a single wire alternator and be done with it, unless it's a show truck or being restored. And get a new battery. Even if you managed to open the old one and add water/acid the plates are probably melted, warped and covered in sulfides now.

| Yep, Leo is correct again, and fairly simple to do. That gets rid of some wiring too. However, I always kinda liked them seperate. Voltage regulaters were cheaper, and alternators too. Being that system is not common any more, that tends to make them parts more expensive. So there is my opinion thinking outloud. I probably just talked myself into Leo's suggestion and would agree him and Bernie. Unless you are just trying to keep the truck OEM, but I know better than that, you have already made some cool upgrades on it.
