| That exactly what I was thinking Towtruck, and why I suggested the 390, but I am not a Ford guru an was not positive. So yep, I certainly agree, the 390 would be the better choice. But I was always thought 351M stood for Midland, not modified, as in 351C is Cleveland, and 351W is Windsor which are the cities the egines are mfr'ed in.

| 6 hours later and I just finished sweating the last connection. Now I just need to let it cool, thread on the expansion tank, tighten the unions and fill it up. Of course, then I have the mess to clean up and the old one to take to the dump. At this rate I'll probably hit the sack about 2 PM

| I will certainly disagree that the 351M is moidifed. True it is modified. A modified hunk of junk, but the 351M is a 351 Midland for the plant it was manufactured in, as is the 351W Windsor, and 351C Cleveland. The letter designates the plant is all. Just like now the 4.6 Modular motors, you can have the 4.6 Romeo block, from the Romeo, MI plant, or you can have the 4.6 Windsor Block. So, thats what it is, Its a 351 Midland which is a destorked 400 hunk of junk. But who I am to argue. I am not a big fan of Ford, although I can tolerate them and have owned a few and do own 1 now.

| Yep, there was the 360 too, it was a truck only motor to the best of my knowledge. As was the 352. Many do not know that ford made a 352 and it was a truck only motor, and I almost want to say, although not 100% positive, just 90%, but it also was a brother or sister the 390 block.

| the only thing i can say about the 360 is that it is a workhorse. on the other hand it is by no means a fuel efficient engine. stick with your 390.
