99 F-150 Lift/ ABS Light??

Hello, I just got a 99 f-150 it has a 6in lift and 35in tires, my question is my abs light is on and the guy i bought it from said a sensor was bad, or do i have to buy a box that reprograms my computer? It has a 4.2 v-6 5 speed 2wd . Thanks Dave

Could be a bad wheel sensor. Often these can get messed up if a wheel bearing has been worked on.
A scanner that can read ABS faults should pinpoint the problem.

There is a tone ring in the hub and then an external sensor which senses if the tone ring is turning or not and sends the info back to the computer through the connecting wires.
You can visually check the sensor and its wiring at the wheel hub. However if the bearing was bad I would think that the tone ring is damaged in the hub.
Just my opinion. Some of the others may have a better idea.

the most comon failure is the rear sensor located on top of the differential. Pull codes to start.
