2003 Explorer XLT "Door Ajar" light...

Hi folks,

The truck is a 2003 Explorer XLT. It's got a constant "Door Ajar" warning light on the dash. We just don't know WHICH door is supposedly ajar. All doors are firmly closed and latched. There are no visible switches in the door jambs so I'm assuming that the switch for turning on the lights and/or signaling a door ajar is part of the latch mechanism.

Is there an easy way to figure out which door is causing the problem? That is short of removing all of the door panels one at a time and checking each switch.

There is what I'm almost sure is a related issue. The courtesy lights on each side view mirror stay on constantly after the truck is turned off and exited. It's killed the battery a time or two also. I'm assuming that they're just staying on because the system assumes that one of the doors are open when they're not.

Thanks in advance for any input!

John

Oops!

The minute I hit submit I realized that I should have done a search first. I did and found a few suggestions. If those don't work I'll try back later.

Thanks!

Hope you find it on a door switch, think the actual turning on is done by IP.

99 times out of 100, at least in my experience, it's the rear hatch on those.
