How can I tell Lonesome if these are truck manifolds?

Well I am probably going to sell the 351M, everyone wants to buy it for some reason.

Eh, my cousin has a 351m in his 80s truck but it's a 2wd. He farms and it's been a good engine.

Maybe so, he probably uses it to carry a bale of hay from the barn to the pasture every other day at 5mph. Kinda hard to wear them out or hurt when all you do is idle around a farm. He probably don't even have a gas pedal in that truck. Don't need it. At any rate, as you can tell, people either love the 351M or they hate. And I happen to hate it. Glad to see you got a 460. I think you will be much more pleased with it. Drive it right, have it tuned properly you might even be happy the fuel mileage. A 460 does not have to work hard unless you make it work hard. When you make it work hard, it will work hard, but its gonna drink the fuel when you do. Bummer you have to get another trans. I kinda thought those taco bender buddies you bought it from should have given you the trans to go with it too.

The simplest way I can tell you the difference is to look at photographs of the truck manifolds and compare them. They pop up on ebay evry so often. Another way is when you are installing the engine see if they hit the frame rail. Or, if the tubing from the do.

Lol. He towed tractors with it.

My truck towed a two row cottonpicker.

I don't have to get a new tranny. It will snap up to my c6.

But yer right about the gas deal.

Lonesome, I will look into it. Thanks bud.

Ok, I've been taking apart the engine but I stopped due to I don't know what to do next. I guess I have to take the timing cover on the front of the engine off to get to the camshaft?
Here is what I did from the beginning to the end for today:
Sludgy oil..needs to be cleaned out-any ideas what I should use to clean these lifters?

start taking the carb off but accidently broke a linkage on it...

guess this is for the gas..

Found these serial numbers on the intake area..they are D5VE-9425-A3E. What does this mean?

Unhooked the fuel filter to the carb as well.

Took the water inlet piece off and look down in the hole (HAD TO TAKE THE DISTRIBUTOR OUT TOO!)

Took whatever this is off because it was blocking me to get a bolt (what is it?

Pulled off the intake piece (guess this is burnt oil in the first picture)

Now this is where I am at.........NOW WHAT DO I DO NEXT?!?!

Are you going to pull the heads? The cheapest and better degreaser is oven cleaner, Get it at Walmart and it works REAL GOOD!!! my 400ci Chrysler was black found out after the oven cleaner it was really blue.
