| Help!...Ford Explorer is falling apart. After I came back from overseas my 2004 Ford Explorer encountered a bunch of issues. It was fine when I left but after my friend brought it into a Ford dealership I seemed to have these problems. My A/C and Heater both blow air but neither blow the appropriate temp. I have checked the fuses and freon level and they are fine. Also when i accelerate my truck makes a humming/whistling/squeeling noise. I was told it could be the ring n pinions but I'm not sure. Assitance is needed!! |

| First things first, have you checked for blown fuses? IIRC the blower motor and climate control are on different circuits. Can you verify if the compressor is coming on or not when the a/c is on? Where is the noise coming from? Front, rear, engine, tranny? What motor is in the truck?

| What do you think the correct temps should be for you HVAC system. Good rule of thumb is the air should be about half the ambient temp. You should check with a temp gauge in the center vents in park and run the engine between 1500-2000 that's about were AC's are meant to run. The heat should be blowing what ever the temp of the engine give or take a few degrees.

| Which one of the noises would best describe the sound.

| The compressor came on when i filled up the freon, but then stopped. The A/C did work for a bit on the passenger side but that lasted only a few hours. It still says the freon level is good. The A/C is not the only problem though. The Heater doesnt work as well. It blows out air, but thats it. I cant really tell where the noise is coming from, it sounds like the front. To me it sounds like more a squeeling sound. I had a former GM mechanic look at it and he said it was most likely the ring n pinion. |

| Is your ford a 4x4? I am thinking the issue with your AC maybe having an issue with the blend air doors.

| I agree, and I think the squeal might be the belt tensioner.

| yes my truck is 4X4. I guess the heat does work but only on the passenger side. I had that same issue with the A/C as well, but the A/C doesnt blow cold air. |
