| I dont know much about sound systems, but from what I have seen and read, I believe I need 6X8 speakers. But I would also like to look into the purchase of a Sub, and in this I run into placement options, box options etc., all of which I really dont know what Im doing. Im not looking to blow a ton of cash, or rule my street with sound, I just want a decent upgrade. So, in summary- -Am I headed in the right direction? -What should I look into? -Where can I find the most bang for my buck? And most of all... What are your ideas? |

| i was once in your shoes but i had a bit of an advantage. full size truck. the best deals out there on stereo equipment is buddies. buy it from other people on the street for the best price. just make sure you listen to it before they take it out of their ride. being a ranger and you not wanting to wake everyone, stick with the 10s. smaller, easier to locate and wont hurt your eardums like 12s or 15s. if you are looking into the sub idea, get a 4 channel amp. this has a few more advantages over the 2 channel. |

| 6x9 are def a good way to upgrade i believe you can put a whole row behind you seat and some 8" or 10" underneath the seats and a 4 channel amp and off you go. i once had a wall of 6x9 's behind my seat and the sound was awesome. |

| What he said. I run 6x9's in each door of my crewcab but I've also got tweeters to compensate for the highs. If you plan on going all 6x9's and can fund it I'd recommend a pair of tweets as well for best sound and reasonable cost. Invest in some cheap spacers to lift your seats and you can fit some decent subs or if its not too much you might be able to fit a couple shallow 10's underneath as is. Keep in mind how much extra demand everything you want to run will put on your charging system and compensate if necessary with a larger alternator now. This will help save you some time and money down the line. Cheapest places to get components are online but you gotta find your own installer or know how to do it.
