Lightbulb Exhaust choices

I have a '98 F-250 light duty 4x4 with 5.4 V8. I'm wanting to put some kind of exhaust on it. I like the Flowmaster series mufflers. I am after a sound that is very deep and powerful. Almost a sound you can feel. I would love to have true duals with two Flows and turn-downs, but Im not sure I can afford this. Does somebody know about how much this would cost me? I have heard a Dodge with a 5.9 V8 with a single original 40 series muffler and it sounds pretty good. I would like at least this sound level, if not more. I have heard about a 30 series (single chamber) and a super 40 series. Has anyone heard any of these 3 mufflers on 5.4 V8? Any more info or suggestions would be appreciated.

Let me see if I can word this correctly. I know what I want to say but being a girl sometimes I get mixed up :-)
With my other truck I believe it was cut before the cat converter and straight piped back. Don't quote me on this, but if that is what I had done (I can't remember sorry) then that will give you a loud rat-a-tat-tat. Not legal by any means but you just have to be careful when you get on it. You will love the sound, check with some others but I wasted my money on an exhuast before and I ended up not even using it.

Good Luck.

I have to agree with you on the flowmasters. You can go on ebay and get the super 40 series which is their latest model of muffler, for about $65 a piece, they sound great! Go to Flowmastermufflers.com and they have a part on their site where you can hear what the muffler sounds like. I have dual 40 series on my ford, and believe me, you can feel em. I have a flow on my jeep, honda, bronco, and f-250. They sound great especially when you give it K&N air to go with the flows. The super 40 is the best for a bigger truck, but the basic 40 series is about $20 cheaper at $45 a piece, and still sound great

Just my $0.02

I can't say "I" did this and I can't condone it...It is wrong !!! A shop here where I live will put a 3" stainless steel dual exhuast from front to back for 189.99 That comes with 2 glasspacks and he costume bends it all in his shop. For a extra 100 or so dollars I heard they lose the catalatic convertor also. wink wink Heard this is common with these shops.

Cool

I use my 4x4 off road on a regular basis. I can live with glass packs and a $200 exhaust. I am average guy and if I get hung up on some rock or trees I don't have to worry about destroying a $800 dollar exhaust system. I guess it depends on what you do with your truck on how to invest your money into it.

Then again you can run Flows for under $200...and still have quality sound and it's economical.

yeah do the flows. I ran straight off the cats 4 awhile on my 4.8 Silverado and loved it..sounded like a ****in pro stock truck to me but the GRRRAAAT sound when u shift got old. So go with a flow. Nice rumble at idle or wide open and instead of that vicious sound when u shift u get that nice hint of backpressure plus a small power gain but noticeable :-D
