Ford E4OD transmission

I have a 1990 Ford Bronco - Fullsize - with the 5.0L; it is 4wd. I have a friend with a 1994 F150 with the 5.8L, E4OD. 4wd. He has parted most of the truck out but has saved the tranny for me.

My tranny is shot

Can I use his tranny? Not sure if the bell housing is same on both vehicles.

Bociba

Thanks in advance!

90 Bronco w/ 302 4wd and 4EOD

Appreciate your response but you'll hopefully forgive me but All I know is that my Bronco has the 5.0L (302?) and my buddy has a 5.8 in the truck. I don't know whether the 5.8L is a 351C or 351M. It's just a 94 5.8L

I understand small blocks vs big blocks. I don't know whether the 90 5.0L is the same block as the 94 5.8L

the 1990 should be a aod and the 4eod is all electicaly controlled by the computer and a few other senors , so you are better off trying to find a used aod or rebulding that one .

I'm with SHD, even though I am not on top of my Ford game, you are right there in years of ECM controlled trans changeover, so not likely a good match for you. As far as the bell housings go, I do believe those are the same. SBF 302 and SBF 351W are they??? But that would be the end of the good news. Sorry Newbie !!! Welcome to the forum though. Stick around and see what else you might need some help with or help someone out with.

Good point from shd. Have a look at the two transmissions. The E4OD is huge and will have 20 pan bolts, the AOD is smaller and will have 14 pan bolts.
However to answer your question the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same.
