| first thing I would check would be the inertia switch for the fuel pump. Not sure where it is located on the Excursion, possibly under a removable panel, on the drivers side in the back.

| if cranks but does not start, then it is not a battery problem. after charging the battery, will it try to crank but not start?? |

| charge or replace battery, turn key to run not start several times listen or have someone listen for a hum at the fuel tank. Gas engine? If no hum as the other guys said inertia switch, fuel pump relay, fuel in tank? Hopefully for you it hums then check fuel rail for presurized fuel, looks like a valve stem on a stainless steel rail, push it down taking all the precautions, saftey glasses, no open flames, maybe put a rag over the stem to absorb the fuel. If you have pressure good, still won't start, take the air filter snorkle off the throttle body open it manually, spray ether, WD-40 (5-10 second blast) crank engine it should fire, if not you have an electrical problem |

| Check in the owners manual for the location of the fuel pump shut off switch, most likely under the dash on the passenger side, that would be the cheapest fix |
