6.9L Glow plug problems???

I have an 86 F250 with a 6.9L diesel in it. The problem is anytime i got on a fairly long drive like 3 hours or so the truck won;t start the next morning,. I check the glow plugs and they are all shot. Everything else controller and relay seem to be working fine, they aren't stayin on too long and driving in town they are fine. any idea's anyone?
