390FE will become famous soon enough
The only computer on my 83 was an ignition module. It was also a F250 and non catalyst motor. It had the sticker on the rad support that states "non-catylist" and I was able to run without cats on the truck legaly...

It is old enough to delete the computer all together and still have a reliable truck with no emissions and no computer for very littel work. Take the power wire for the computer and run it as the hot wire for the ignition. Install previously mentioned parts and walla. A carbeutated motor without emissions or computer.

Okay i havn't been here for awhile.... Do you have a link to where to buy these parts for the msd ignition conversion you mentioned? I got to messing around with my pick-up today and i unplugged every bit of electronic stuff that lead to the carb and it still ran. Is there anything wrong with doing this?

Also since sum1 mentioned a four barrel carb being too much would a 2 barrel be fine?

Let me know how your doing with it.
A point to electronic ignition conversion kit?

aint nothing wrong with a 2 barrel on a 6. ignition conversion kits are alot cheaper than paying the 250 or 300 for a brand new dist. i have never installed one so cant tell you if it is a walk in the park or not but know they work fine. your ignition is not going to change with a new carb and as for the copmputer, i thought that you were going to do away with all of that.
