Tranny swap in '89 Bronco

I have an '89 Bronco with a 302, an AOD and a BW 13-56 E-Shift. The bellhouse is cracked on the tranny, and because of this, it breaks the ears off any starter I put on it....and consequentially, I ran over my own starter one day (the day I found out it was cracked). I don't have a lot of money, so I need suggestions for a solution...I thought about having it tig welded, but I'm not sure if it will take the stress afterwards...I don't want to put another AOD back in it if I swap the AOD out. I would like to put a C-6 in it, but I'm not entirely sure whether or not it will bolt up...Obviously, it should bolt up to the engine with no trouble, but would I have to change the tail on the tranny to bolt it to the 13-56? If so, would the tail off the AOD work for that? I'm a bit broke right now, so big spending on a C-6 or AOD is definitely out of the question. Need all the info I can get. I'm in Muncie, Indiana, in case anyone's got a C-6 for sale cheap...like less than 100 dollars. Would be great, but info would be very helpful. Thanks to anyone who responds.

C6 isnt an AOD trans. I would suggest welding by a pro. Shouldnt be a real issue and it would be the cheapest way to go.i welded my bellhousing on a TH400 a few years ago and it is still holding up just fine.

390FE will become famous soon enough
I second the welding.

I pulled the FE motor in my '72 and on reinstal I didn't realize it but I had the motor and tranny (C6) not lined up 100" and broke an ear off the tranny. Had it welded and all is fine. I can't even see where the tranny was welded on.

Thanks for the tips.

I am currently in the process of acquiring a Tig welder, so I think that is the route I am going to go. I appreciate those who helped in making the decision....I suppose I wouldn't be here right now if I didn't seem to think a 5000 pound truck needed to go airborne repeatedly.....
