86F150 is on a distinguished road
Cool I need help new Ford owner

I have always loved chevys but I recently bought an 1986 F150 4X4 already installed a 3 inch body lift, getting ready to install a 6 inch suspension lift I was told I should use a F250 rear ends the ? is can I still use the lift for the F150 with the F250 rear ends Thanks for any help Dennis

Not positive but I beleve you can. Just measure the diameter of the axle housing on a 250 rear end. you may need new larger u-bolts for the rear end.

and something I just thought of. If you stick a 250 rear end on your truck you will have 5 lugs up front and 8 lugs in the rear. Say good by to tire rotation. I say keep the rear end you have and beef it up. If you happen to brake an axle just replace it with a racing axle, that should be stronger than your stock one. You may need to regear the rear end depending on the size tires you plan to run.

thanks but I seen one at work and there is no way to convert it over to a 250 running gear I needed both front and rear ends. Thanks again

HAHA 390 I have that issue on my f-250. I have 5 lug in the front and 8 in the rear

However, if you can get the lift to work, you can convert the front to 8 lug to match the rear, no biggy at all Good luck!
