2006 Ford F-250 Super Crew Question

I am seriously considering trading in my F-150 for this truck. I have a 2 horse trailer and would like to start hauling longer distances.
Regarding the engine choices...
V8, V10, or Diesel?
Any pros or cons re: each....and/or issues?
And which rear end would make for a better drive when hauling a 3000 pound trailer loaded with 2000 pounds of horse... the 373 or 410?
Any thoughts/tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

390FE will become famous soon enough
I say if you go gas get a V10. The extra power is nice and with only like 1 mpg loss over the V8. I know a guy with a F350 X-cab and he has towed with his V10 and the truck did not down shift or change speed when cruise set going up hills on the highway.

I also know him and another guy who are hitting themselves for not getting the 410 gears but are satisified with there 373's.

With the diesel remember it takes like 10 Qts of oil at every change and I think the filthers arn't cheap either. Thats the only drawback I can see know. And the gas. I know yet anotherguy with a F350 Crew and the diesel. He got the diesel because he drives a lot and now (as apposed to 2003 when he bought it) diesel is more expensive than gas. He still has it though.

Hope this helped at least a little.

I have the V-10 in my work van, it has 183k on it. It's doin alright, but it's tired now. However, it's got the power needed to still tow our 4-horse stock with the horses in it. I would prefer the diesel because they're known to last longer, but I deal with what I got

I have the Crew Cab, 4X4, diesel with 10,000. I tow a 5200 lb travel trailer or a 20 ft boat. I love it. The diesel gets 17 and 18 mpg empty, and 13 and 14 towing the trailer through the Ozark Mountains. Being a diesel, it takes more oil and uses more but goes farther between changes, 5000 miles for heavy use, 7500 for normal operations. But the torque is amazing compared to a gas engine and the diesel manages the big truck well.
