Small Question

I know this is not a truck question but i was wondering iuf anyone ould help ne out. My mom has a 98' ford turus with about 156,000 miles. its a nice car and she realy likes it but i think it might be kicking the bucket. Anyway the problem is that she got into an accident with it about a week ago and now we have i suposedly all fixed up says the insurance company. but just awhile ago we started hering this squeal from under the hood. Now just a day ago she went out of town on a trip and it overheated . Some peole are saying its from the accident some are sayig its from the belt in that its not running the AC unit . But now our another guy is saying it could be the radiator and the squeak has nothing to do with the car overheating. I wanted to know if you guys would know nything about it that could help me out.

were exactly was the car hit? the squeal could just be a worn out belt, alot of miles for a belt if it is original.

I agree on the belt.

Overheating could be slipping(worn) belt, bad or dying water pump(posible at 150K), bamaged radiator or bad radiotor, sticking thermostat or not enough coolant.

and yes tell us where it got hit. If it was a head on that it could be from the accident or just a coinsidence. If it was hit side or back than a part is just failing.

The AC should have nothing to do with the car overheating unless its causing the belt to slip. The AC is its own entity with its own pluming. Also AC is an option and some cars don't have it so its not reguired to keep an engine cool.
