hello, new member with a question about rearends

If anyone can give me a great way of identifying a dana 44 vs dana 60 in the front of a 79 F-250 or 350, and dana 60 vs dana 70 in the same rig

60's are leaf sprung... 44's are coils I believe... unless previously modified ???

No, it can be true, but not a rule. Alot of the soalid axle trucks used either 44 or 60s. There should be a small stanp on the right side of the diff. Do a quick google search for dana axle identifiaction. Bolt pattern is slightly different between the 2. Opening up the diff can tell you for sure.
