| I am starting up my own car hauling business locally here in on the central coast of Cali, and I have never been a Ford guy whenever it has come to a day to day vehicle, but I want a Ford for my business because I feel they are more reliable then dodge and I dont like the GMC or Chevy trucks. This is my question. I need a 7.3L Turbo Diesel Dually, my budget for this truck is a max of $21k, for you ford guys, I have noticed most these trucks I am looking aren't all the same GVWR, like some are 11.2k, 11.5k, 13k, 15k, and I have even come across a 21.5K on a 00' F550 which almost made my budget, but I was wondering, which truck out of the F series dually's have the highest GVWR? Do 2wd's have more than 4wd's, or does a 99 2wd have more or less GVWR than a 03? I am really looking for a 13k-15k+ GVWR and also, which comes with a better equipped transmission if any? I would just hate to buy something not fully knowing the in's and out's from you ford guys first. Any help you can give would greatly be appreciated. |

| As far as I know, the 2003 and newer 6.0L diesel has more horsepower and torque than the 7.3L. Also, because of the smaller displacement of the 6.0 the towing capacity will be higher to start. The 2WD model will always definitely have a larger towing capacity than all 4WD models 7.3L or 6.0L |

| Hey dan, your in the wrong spot. Try out this website. There are some real experts on this site. WWW.DIESELSTOP.COM It is an all for diesel forum. And don't let anybody tell you that a 6.0 is a bad engine. You just gotta stay away from the first year. I had more problems than you can shake a stick at from aan 01 dodge with the cummins and that was supposed to be the best engine in the world for a light duty truck. The 7.3 is also an excellent engine. It just doesn't have the quickness or smoothness that a 6.0 has and the it costs a lot more to power them up. 6.0 came stock with 325 hp and 560 torque. For under a G you can put well over 400hp to the ground and torque goes up to somewhere in the 750 range. Anyway, check out that site. Its awesome.

| I have a 96 7.3. I love it. The 6.0 does have more torque and horse power but they don't last as long. they are over built for the strength of the engine components. As for trannies, add a trans cooler and you will be fine. |
