1999 F-250 7.3 Turbo Diesel engine oil, filter, etc info.

I just purchased a 1999 F-250 Super Duty, Super Cab, 7.3 Turbo Diesel, and besides changing the oil, oil filter, checking, air filter, etc, what are the other things that I shoulld be checking/changing? Also I tow a 12,000 pound fifth wheel travel Trailer, and should I change the oil more often than every 5000 miles? Also, do I dare tow the 12,000 pound trailer (the truck is rated at 13,800 pound capacity) in overdrive on relatively flat roads? BTW, I am very happy with the towing ability that this truck has given me in the first 1700 miles and I have yet to try it in overdrive.

Personally I'd change oil at every 3000 miles and other things to consider would be the fuel filter and transmission fluid & filter. I do not believe that towing in overdrive would be a great idea. Others have different opinions on the matter but it's a bit of a strain on the tranny and converter in my opinion.

How many miles are on the truck? 5000 miles on an oil change is fine. Yes you can pull the trailer in OD as long as it is somewhat flat. If it starts to go up and down stay in 3rd. as far as regular maintence this has been mine for the last few years.

Oil and filter 5000 miles (sometimes 7500 depending on the driving)
fuel filter 15000 miles
air filter between 5000 - 10000 ( dusty here)
tranny filter 20000 miles
and it never hurts to service the rearend (front end too if its 4x4) every 100000 miles.

If You don't have any kind of tranny temp or exhaust temp gauge I would highly suggest adding those 2 to keep an eye on it.
