growling noise, loose tailshaft?

I have a 94 E350..e40d trans...It makes a growling noise when taking off and a slight bit of vibration sometimes. I noticed that the tail shaft seems to move up and down quite a bit. Are there bearings inside that may be worn... can I put another tail shaft on from another tranny?

You can easily replace the output shaft bearings located inside of the tailshaft housing. The ouptut shaft itself will not come out, but the housing will, and the shot bearings are inside. I would recommend changing the seal as long as you have it apart.
